Default Student Loans... where you get yours?

So I'm poor as ---- and I can't possibly work enough hours and survive to pay for everything right now. So far my student loans have been from citibank, but i don't like them. Their interest rates seem high, and I've always had to apply with a cosigner. Is there any that I won't have to use a cosigner? Minimum criteria through citibank is a monthly income of at least $1500 and an annual of at least 18k, with a debt to income ratio of less than 45% I believe.

Well I can't reasonably make 1500 a month while in school unless I land some miracle job. I did make a lot more than that this summer though, but I still won't be over 18k this year I don't think. So wtf does a nog do? Man up and ask mommy to cosign on my loan again? I'm pretty tired of this ----, I have at least 3 years of good credit history with one small fuckup. How do they expect a ------- full time student to make than kind of money while not failing out of school? I know thats not anything for you bastards with real jobs, but I'm ------- attending school to get a job that will pay me well for what I want to do, so why do I need a cosigner on my student loans? The point of going to school is to make more money later that I obviously don't have right now, hence taking out loans to pay back later. *******. end rant.

Wachovia hooks me up.
Go to the finacial aid office at your school and have them show you the options, they will find the best deal for you.

A co-signer will help a lot though.

Check out www.myrichuncle.com/ They do a lil more than just check credit. But without co-signer stuff gets hard. Same here, my dad makes bank on paper but has lotsa debt and doesn't manage it. My family contribution isn't going to be 30K. My folks ain't helping me but they determine how much fin aid I'll get based on their income. BS I tell you.

I'm through Sallie Mae and in a ---- ton of debt. Hope it pays off. Most of the people I know get in debt, go to school, get a degree, then get into the world and do something frustratingly medeocre like work at starbucks or some run of the mill job. I'm hoping for a bit more. Good luck man.

Didn't you get to choose your financial institute? I chose US Bank because they dropped 2% off in the end when you start paying after the 6 month default. I don't see why you need a co signer? I'm 26, I make about 3k per month, taking only 2 classes per semester. They still give me enough to pay for the classes and books...all under the sub loan. I don't even use it all..i just have them take the rest back. I can get 1750 per semester on the sub, and 4k unsub. The only problem I see is that you may be claiming as a dependant. Thats when they base your qualifications on your household income..etc. Go in and talk to an advisor. Mine had all the solutions for me. They know the in's and out's of this. GL to you.

I go through a credit union. 7.5k a year is the max I can get but I only have to pay interest while I'm in school.
