Default Strengthening shift forks

I am fixing to get a 92-95 Ex 5 speed cheap and I was wondering is there any way to strengthen the shift forks. I have heard that you can just weld pieces of metal to the forks or something but I don't know for sure. Has anyone done this? Any input is appreciated.

I wrap them in playdoe and bake them at 350 degres for 40 minutes. Makes them 42.5 percent stronger.

Shot peening or cryo are the best options I can think of, other than swapping to a 96+ tranny with steel forks.

Thanks for the input. I think that the playdoe is a little over kill for my setup. LOL

I remember seeing someone on HT that was making shift forks for his eg hatch and was selling them, is there a problem with something on a certain year?

Never really heard of it
