Yeah, that kid is fucked now. Although its not his fault. He should be charged with criminal wreckless driving, some sort of neglegence for the death, and take his licence away for a couple years.
As for street racing, I will admit I do it, but only if it is actually safe and not crouded with cars. I won't race in heavy traffic and I won't pass people to keep in the race. I don't have a track here so that is my only way of racing. It is dumb and irresponsible of me, but you also have to look at other accidents. If you think about it, every single car acccident is caused by driver error. It might be more dangerous to drive faster, but I strongly believe in fate and if it was your time, you would have been killed on your way home today. Lets say they were driving 80 mph when they were racing and the driver of one of the cars was killed. Now you have to look at the whole scene. What if two intersections before someone decided to make an illegal U turn in the middle of the intersection and if the two racers were doing the speed limit they would have killed the dumbass who pulled the U turn and his three kids in the back seat. Would that have been better because they were doing the speed limit?
I don't know, I guess I play blackjack too much and I can't help but to look at the whole scene up and down the road to see what would have happened under different circumstances.

I use to street race alot with my friends til fast and the furious came out here. All of a sudden preppy punks start causeing trouble ,causeing wrecks and some deaths. Everyone here that fit the street racer stereotype got harrased by the chowder head cops. I remember being ghosted from a cop for like 20 minutes ,hell ....still do sometimes. I have not lost a friend to street racing ,i don't to want and those of you that have im sorry. Street racing is just some ladder for the goverment to get public support on by condeming it.
You don't hear about moms in suv's because there is no hype around it but mention street racing and all of a sudden you got attention. It blows *** that the ones who never do ---- end up catching the heat but thats the way this world is

Law makers jsut have the wrong ideas for solving the "problem".You heard that police guy say they need harsher punishment..huhum no! I firmly belive that a child learns more from reward than from punishment, which is not to say punishment is never needed. THEY NEED TO PUSH FOR MORE TRACKS not try to push for strict laws!! I mean is putting in a Boys&Girls club better or adding a few years to a Drug trafficing charge?

Thats very stupid to get charged with second degree murder, but like someone else here said it wont fly. They do say that to scare people. Street racing is a stupid thing to do. I admit i used to do it a lot to. Until i started getting tickets over and over. Racked up 7 in a couple of months, and then a friend of mine died to street racing. Its just a stupid thing to do. Keep it for the track! it dont matter if its 4 a.m. my friend who died, died at 2 a.m. But everytime something happens the cops go on high alert. I dunno about where you guys live but up here in seattle, cops are dicks!!! Ive been pulled over in front of my house TWICE!!!! for my exaust. and have racked up 23 pull overs in the last couple of months. Why?? because i have a modified car. so of course im ganna street race! NO, thats a stupid asumption to make. Cops need to get a life and pull people over that deserve it not us!!

Its funny you mention push for more tracks to help fight street racing. Around here everyone fights to keep tracks away or close the ones that are here.. After all seeing the race will encourage us to do it on the street. They seem to feel it will have the opposite effect as you.. I think they are wrong. Racing and competing in general is in our blood. I don't know about you guys but I have been competative since I was a little kid. I raced on bikes.. on roller blades.. on foot. Everything I did I had to win and weather it was a competition or not I had to be first. It goes much deeper that a MOVIE. or a car. I would race a stock car. When I pull up to a light I always want to be the first one pulling out.. Do I go 100mph.. NO.. I just am first.. Its subconcious.
Nothing they do will stop it.. They just need to deal.. I do think that having aggressive driving coarses mandatory and free would help alot. Most people are so scared behind the wheel they become a hazard to the rest of us.
