Stereo guys...CHIME IN!!!

Re: Stereo guys...CHIME IN!!!
So my boss has a 1991 caprice classic w/ the bose system in it. The bose amp took a ---- and instead of getting a bose amp a local shop sold him on a clairion 4 ch. amp and told him it was possible to use the stock wiring and some RCA's to bypass the factory amp. He has since then cut a pair of RCA's in half to expose the wiring and he wants me to get it all wired up. He already has the power, gnd, and remote wired to the amp using the factory wiring and it does power up so I'm not worried about that part (at this time).
Now I figure (if i'm right) it should be wired like this:
Green RF feed - black RCA #1
Blue RR feed - Red RCA #1
Tan LF feed - Black RCA #2
BRN LR feed - Red RCA #2
Then run the RCA's to the aftermarket amp.
What do I do with the shielding wires inside the RCA cables?
What do I do with the white "Audio Common" wire from the factory wiring?
Now leaving the amp I have this:
L front (+) - tan
L front (-) - Gry
R front (+) - Lt Grn
R front (-) - DK Grn
R rear (+) - wht
R rear (-) - Pnk
L rear (+) - wht
L rear (-) - Pnk
there is also a black shielding wire on the rear speakers what should I do with that?
Please help me get this figured out (if possible). I told my boss I was willing to put in an aftermarket deck, new amp, new wiring, new speakers...EVERYTHING. But that other shop told him he didn't have to so now I'm stuck in this mess.

Re: Stereo guys...CHIME IN!!!
bose speakers operate at 1 ohm. its best to change them out.
with cutting up rca's. dont. amps need low level inputs. not high... i would do all of this with a high - to low converter and run the system in the traditional matter. will need to rewire from aftermarket amp to each speaker. thats what i would do. if you keep the stock speakers in there, they will either blow, sound like ----, or fry the amp....

Re: Stereo guys...CHIME IN!!!
You CAN use the Bose speakers on the Clarion amp they are actually 2 ohm speakers. The problem is the factory deck. Tell his cheap *** to buy a new deck. It will sound better anyway and make life easy for you. Get one with front and rear RCA output (sub out optional). Run two sets of RCA's to the amp, extend and hook up the factory speaker wires to the amp, get a long *** Antenna extension and either some antenna adapters or cut/splice new ends on and be done with it. Had it been a Cadillac each speaker has its own individual amp and thats a pita.
