Some old school help

Any one happen to know what tranny is bolted to my buddies motor? It's a 318 with a 4 spd stock that we pulled form his wrecked plymouth volare . I'm kinda hoping it's a M21 then it would fit my nova's 383 right ?

also plymouth = chrysler
chevy = gm
