Also, if you think about it. These import 4 and 6 cylender motors that are pushing 6'es can buy allot of there components straight off the shelf because of all of the r&d of top fuel and big v8 american drag racing. if top fuel teams need to go faster they have to pay for the engineering and R&D time. all the pro 4 cylender guys just need to worry about making the power. the drivetrains, rear ends, tire compounds, chassis design. its all already there for the using.

Its not the fact that they can't go faster its that there's no point. NHRA and IHRA racing is exciting to watch becuase there are alot of car in the field with races comming down to a thousands of a second. It makes for good racing unlike import racing where there are 3 car in a field, each of them running 5 seconds apart from each other when they actually run beucase they break every ------- run.


This is why domestics aren't going any faster cause the rules are in place to make the playing field equal and some exciting racing unlike the homo import series. Allow unlimited tire size for the rail cars and see how fast they would go. A car that can liquify slicks bigger than a Honda Civic at 250mph has alot more potential to go faster.

I know this, but if they could go faster and keep everything stable, safe and competitive, they would. I don't think thats going to happen any time soon though.

yeah, only 4s :1. you know what the funny thing is. top fuel dragsters by rules can only use superchargers which takes about 600 horsepower to run. could you imagine the potential if they were allowed to use a turbo settup. turbos are so much more efficient than blowers. so we know that the boundries of the v8 are higher than they are now. well have to wait and see if or when they allow turbos in top fuel dragsters....maybe we'll see 3s with more advanced tire compounds in the future.

I don't think they will ever allow turbos on top fuelers (or even a team that would want to run them) Hydrolock comes into play when you put a turbo on a nitromethane car. If you look at the dragsters at the line you can see the raw fuel comming out the exhaust.


The sad thing is I bet half of these ****** ricers who say "only 4's" probably never even been to the track when these top fuelers run. Every motorsports fan should go and experience it. You can feel it in your chest when they go down the track.
