they can get faster, but the NHRA regulates it so the wont implode.

ex. the fuel mixture HAS to be like 60/40 or something.

as much as i like the 4 cyl, they can never be as fast as a v8 can be.

Well top fuel cars can go way faster than they actualy do. they're limited by drive trains that can handle the power they make, and tire compounds that can actualy hook up with the power they put out. Aerodynamics come into play here. have you ever seen a picture of a top fuel dragster mid run? the chassis gets pretty bowed down by the ammount of downforce on the front end. the chassis looses its cert for top fuel after a few passes. plus the drivers are going so fast they practicly need g suits. its not a lack of power thats keeping them from going faster. its a lack of components to control the power.
