private companies already basically run 911. just the govt pays for it with your tax money.

Yeah, most professors suck federal dick to get grant money to do research which typically ends up being worthless. I helped do some of the Model UN's budgeting in the department I work in. They're blowing something like 48k dollars to send a bunch of kids to China to play make pretend UN. Most of the MUN kids are conservative or libertarian, though. So their political slant hasn't been affected by their professors, much to their chagrin.
Not all the money is federal money. Some comes from tuition, some comes from outside private grants and a good portion of it comes from MUN alumni. I just thought it was weird to learn that the bill was completely picked up from them besides a ~100 dollar fee.
Education isn't too big of a concern. It's more of an investment by the government to have an educated population that is able to create more wealth so that they have a more reliable base of people to tax. That's pretty much what federal student aid comes down to. And everyone who receives that aid ends up paying it back 10 fold if they graduate and actually get a job that pays more than 30k a year.

makes up story about palin and africa and NAFTA. give its to MSNBC, they run the story without doing any investigating at all. then the same guy breaks news to MSNBC that he is the source from the mccain campaign who leaked the info. MSNBC runs with it too. without any investigation.
rest of MSM follows like sheep.
they finally retract story.
the entire thing was fake. who is going to take back the nasty things they said about palin?

I will. Sorry I thought she was a bigger moron than she actually is. She's still a moron though. But the guy was on Fox News (O'Reilly's show) too so you really can't blame anything on liberal MSNBC when conservative Fox News didn't know any better at the time.

I linked you to it last week, but someone deleted the thread. You wrote the website off as being created by liberals and probably didn't watch the video on the page. I didn't say read the site, just watch the video from O'Reilly's show. Basically the guy was on there and O'Reilly said some ---- about "That may or may not be true, but she can be educated on the basics of geography very quickly." Sort of a weakass attempt at defending her, even if the accusation was false.
