Default shipping a motor...

I sold the B16 bottom end I had for sale, but this guy is wanting me to ship it. I have never shipped anything like this before, therefore have no idea how to. I dont mind doing it, just need a little guidence...(plus i know you bastards are gonna want engine ---- from japan)

Its just the bottom end itself, with internals. have any idea how much it weighs?
my plan was to make a wooden cradle to set it on, then buy some cheap ratchet straps and strap that mother down, all while inside a rubbermaid container.

next question, how much will it cost to ship it, will ups ship it, and anyone have any idea of how much this bitch weighs?

i think puting it on a crate and straping it down would be the best. for ups not sure... have to call them. and i think shiping would be around 150$

I forgot the name of the company, but they can ship shortblock for $60 and the person whose receiving the block has to go to that company and pick it up. I'll try to check around for the name & # for u.

call around and ask about freight shipping. there's no need to waste your money on a big tupperware container. just throw it on a crate and strap it down, wrap it up in some plastic before hand to avoid and dirt gettin in or whatever, also, maybe put a piece of card board over the top to protect the piston/cylinders.

i crated up a whole b20 and shipped it to some dude in lousiana from california and it came up to like 300 something. i dont know i forgot i just put it as a COD so he pays for the shipping once he gets it. that might be easiest. i went to a fedex shipping dock they had in another town dropped it off filled out the paperwork and it was good.

if the bottom end only weighs 100lbs (my estimate) ups will do it for $75, me crating it up, them picking it up from my house. if i charge the guy $100- that should cover everything. i might do as prokejteg said though....

yeah Frank i usto work in a warehouse packaging ---- all day. your best bet is to put it on a pallet(go to some buisness place and look in the back for a pallet and take it ) then strap it down with some tie downs, or whatever you have that will hold it in place, make sure to use some sort of padding when strapping it down, like cardboard or somthin like that so you dont dammage anything. then shrink rap the hole engine on the pallet to keep it sturdy in place, i guess you could use some plastic rap, if you cant find any shrink rap stuff. then throw your packing slip on it and ship it off.

I can get pallets all day long. the only thing im really worried about is how much it weighs, and who to ship it through. I will probably just build a wood crate like everyone is sayin, and go from there. where can i get shrink wrap from?
