Default SCREWED BY PARKING $600 in the hole

WEll i have a valid pass for a parking secion on my campus but it is a long way form my dorm. Long story short i ended up gettting a pass from a freind , which he had stolen i think and edited the number. BUnch of People had been using passes like this. I had been using it for about 2 weeks then one mornign i cam out and had a BIG BOOT on my car. Well not thinking right i called my friends and they felt bad about it since they convinced me it was safe. WEll we got the boot off enough to take my wheel off and put on a spare...and we were out of there. Well i had jsut gotten a new car and it was not registered on campus so i thought i was okay. BAD MOVE ..apparently if the fine is high enough parking must get access to motor vehicles records(even though they cant wioth just parking tickets). I intercepted to letters to my Dad(car under his name) that was a $160 bill for illegal parking then on bill for $430!!! to replace the parking boot. My sister told me not to return the boot and just pay the whole bill. Dang i shot myself in the foot. Guess it will be a long time now before i can start my Crx project

find a price for a parking boot somewhere way cheaper and pay them that much... that's how insurance companies do it, and it's apparently legal for them... send them the info on where to get the boot.

i hate parking *****.. my car got towed once. i have never screamed so many horrible things in the face of another human being as i did that day. i still feel bad about it..

$160 parking ticket is a bit excessive... towing costs about that much here in minneapolis..

I hate unexpected expenses like that. It seems like there is never enough money to go around as it is but when these things happen it just screws with everything you have planned. Sorry to hear about your loss, hope things start to look up for you!

this is almost funny.
yeah, i had a $120 burrito tonight. wasn't all that great either.
i was in the store for 5 ------- minutes. i stopped on my way home for work to get food. i parked in a completely empty lot, one i've parked in many times. came out to catch the ----------er putting the boot on. i almost kicked him in the head before he saw me.

seriously, parking 5 minutes somewhere that's not inconveniencing ANYONE. i feel your pain man, even more so than i did yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your loss, hope things start to look up for you! Tell me about it. My turbo install got pushed back three weeks heres the story. I'm a mechanic and my moms check eng. light was on in her Jeep Grand Charokee so me being a good son said I'd take it into work and have it checked out. Well it was 60am in the mornig and they were doing construction in my neighborhood and the turn coming out of me house is kind of a blind turn. Well I'm coming around the turn and then I see a MAC truck sitting in the middle of the road trying to back up into the construction site. Now if I was in my car I could have stopped in time ( My civic have slotted rotors , Axis Metal master pads , and integra booster and MC ) but it being a big as Jeep with shitting brakes there was no way. I hit the truck head on at 40MPH. The AirBags DID NOT go off and the seat belt DID NOT retract back to keep me in my seat. I flew foward and hit my head on the steering wheel. The only thing keeping me from going threw the windsheild was my lap belt. They said it was my fault cause I should have seen it but I told them it's a blind turn and they should have had spotters cause he was blocking the flow of traffic. I went to a lawyer to see if I could do something about the air bags and seat belt not working and he said No because since I didn't die or get seriuosly injured form them not working their High Price lawyers would find a way for me not to get anything. I had to pay for my moms $600 deductable...it was only fari I pay since I wrecked it and the total bill now is up to $5,500 in damage to her car with not a scratch on the Truck.

Apparently from what i see, if you have a low enough car, then they cant throw a boot on, look at the design of the boot, if you have a lowered car and a body kit then they wont be able to get it on, unless they damage the body kit, and if they do that then they are paying you money.
