Default RX-7 13b differences

i am looking at this 1984 rx-7 and i was told that it has a new version of the 13b, one that is carb'd. It has a choke on it. I was told that the 84's had EFI and nto carb'd. The choke on the interior looked HM style so i think it is def a swap.

The car is in shambles but i think that it is a good possible turbo canadate. Can anyone tell me how to tell the different gens of the 13b and wether there was a forged version?

The 13b only came as fuel injected. Never carb'd in a 7. What model is? Only the GSL-SE had the 13b and even the GSL which was available with rear disks and a LSD only came with the 12A. There's alot to to change it to FI if it's a carb'd car...tank,dash wiring, engine harness...unless you plan on keeping it carb'd and boosting it. I like the 1g 7's but that sounds like quite abit of work and who knows what they did to it if he say's it's a new 13b carb'd version... No 13b ever came carb'd. Period. Here... there.... anywhere from the factory.

He's talking about in 7's. Yes 13b's came carb'd in other cars but never in the 7. The 13b first appeared in 73 in the Luce AP Gran Tourismo. It also came in the Parkway Rotary 26 which was a passenger bus. God frickin idiots...

If the motor is a 6-port. Check and see what kind of carb it is. I had a racing beat setup on mine that was swapped into my 85. It didn't have a manual choke though. Just ask the guy what kind of carb it is? And check and see if it is actually a 13b, not a 12a. The 12a nikki carbs had a mechanical choke beside the steering column and in both my cars had to be fixed and ghettofied because they were broken when I bought them, so that isn't uncommon.
