Yeah the pipes help scavenge the exhaust, but one of the main purposes of expansion chambers is to create some backpressure. The back pressure is caused by the small diameter after the large section. This back pressure caused from the "wave dynamics" or w/e they called it on wikipedia, helps prevent the fresh intake charge from flowing across the cylinder and out the exhaust port when the piston is in the compression cycle. The backpressure will keep more of the charge in the cylinder and make more power by doing this.

From wikipedia on expansion chambers:

"...the piston is on the way back up on its compression stroke but the exhaust port is still open, an unavoidable problem with the two stroke design. To help prevent the piston pushing fresh mixture out the open exhaust port a strong high pressure wave from the expansion chamber is timed to arrive during the compression stroke."

Who ever thought up expansion chambers on a 2 stroke is a ------- genius.

sucks, but there really isnt any deep puddles at my place.

i went out today with the chain saw and cut up a annoying bunch of branches that blocked the entire trail, you had to stop and lift them up over yourself to get through.

and i also unblocked a really cool hill
