BTW, ---- Megasquirt. MS-II at the height of it's development will never be where OBD1 Honda was a year ago. Downgrading EMS for a horrible user interface, completely inadequate logging, poor control of several important features *primarily coil dwell* (funny you should mention MS in an ignition upgrade thread the best ignition upgrade for a MS car is to run something else), etc, is great advice to take from a guy who has never busted the 250 whp mark and really doesn't know what it takes. Outside of forum advice, which is usually wrong anyway.
Uh, MS2 ain't that bad. It's not the best, but it's cheap, and that's important too. I have MS2 on my miata. I mounted a 36-1 trigger wheel to the crank (10 bucks), a VR sensor to read it (10 bucks), and MS now has timing resolution to 4/32 of a degree accuracy. I can setup any ignition parameter imaginable. You mentioned dwell. I can control dwell and starting dwell, number of coils, wasted spark, multi spark, etc. I can control fuel injector PWM current and ramp times in percent and microseconds respectively. (runs low ohm injectors to 3 decimal accuracy on PW) 12x12 maps isn't big, but it's adequate. And it does every thing imaginable that any other ECU on earth does and it's open source. Closed loop idle, PID, launch control, flat shift, EBC, boost by TPS, sequential d ignition (you were gonna run sequential COPs, right? ), 4 bank sequential injection, Autotune, dataloging, user specifiable setting to retard timing X degrees per 1st knock event, Y after that, etc. I like it. I'm sure your honda ---- is better, but for the mazda world MS is the best. I paid 250 for my MS2.

------- please. MS2 is merely slightly more cobbled on ---- than MS1 was. The only difference is the addition of a battery compensation table of medium resolution, there is still NO dwell control versus rpm and that right there will ---- you every time.

Whoopty-----, and half of it is crudely implemented or controlled.
