Release bearing or what??

Release bearing or what??
I have installed a turbo on my dutch cheap car..everything fine with a boost of 0.8 bar @ 175bhp (1.4 carb. motor). Since yesterday a strange sound is coming from somewhere beneath the hood.
The sound is generated at a rpm of 3000 rpm and sounds like holding a nail a little bit against a gear. It is only heard when driving, so when I step on the gas with gearbox in neutral or with clutch engaged everything sounds ok. That's why it's so hard to find the origin. I removed the turbo hoses but the sound is still noticeble, but much less.
Does anyone have a idea what it might be before I start dismantling my motor compartment....
If you have a tip...please help me out.

Re:Release bearing or what??
The turbo was in good condition....it is a new one.
When I push the clutch in while driving and when it is making that sound the sound slowly dissapears...as if the gear it is making a sound against slowly loses its speed.
The transfluid had been renewed with the new clutch I placed 2 weeks ago.

Did you change the throwout bearing? If you did change it, it might just need to wear in. What kind of clutch? A lot of clutches have chatter. My throwout bearing has been making that noise since it was new. I'm not worried about it.

Re:Release bearing or what??
Just asking....isn't it supposed to only sound when the clutch is engaged if it is the throw out bearing?
It makes the sound as well if i'm driving and I reach about 3000rpm and above...increasing in higher rpm's.
Tnks for the replies by the way...

Re:Release bearing or what??
mine would make it when the clutch pedal is engaged...when i would push the clutch it would go away...and when i would drive you could hear it and it would get louder and more annoying as the rpms went higher....it is your throw out bearing...just take out the tranny and replace the bearing...pretty easy and cheap...just a tad time consuming...
