Re:race for pinkslips on TV
I am guessing that this is gonna be almost totally staged.
The producers will negotiate the head start and ----. Just to make the races close. They also say straight up that they will pair the cars up. It would be better to see just 100 people show up to race and pick eachother out, like anywhere else.

Re:race for pinkslips on TV
I guessed you missed my SEMA thread where I disclosed information about this new show called "pinks".
And if you think it's staged, your wrong. I had the same feelings about how a show like this could have "secrets", so I was talking to the guy at the show (the host) and he flipped out on me. I asked him, "so like, do the people get paid for the show or something"? The guy is like this hyped up bald guy and he was like, "---- no man. Here's what you fucken get, if you win, you take the fucken guys car. If you lose, then your fucked" <--Pretty much in those words as a "professional" spokesperson trying to promote the show.
I really thought for a minute he was gonna throw Bolo's.
So I'm like, "so straight up win or lose? No you get $500 for appearing on the show or anything?" He said, "---- no. You don't get ----". So I thought one more question and he'd jump over the table, so that was the end of trying to find out "the inside secrets". lol.
After all the questions, he did admit that on one of the races both of the guys were crying about driving so far to the show taping and they wanted gas money for the trip. He said they were behind in schedule and they really needed to tape the show (which the guys were refusing to do without gas money) so he payed both of them $300 each. And quickly after he told me that he said, "BUT NEVER AGAIN"!!!!! The guy was a real wack job.
From the video's that were playing in the backgroung at the show it looked like some guys bought some $500 cars and decided to put them up for the race. No expensive cars that I saw. It's best 2 out of 3 runs, also.
Sorry for the long post, but the only reason I really talked to the guy so long (and risked my life) was to get the inside scoop to report to HMT. So there.

Re:race for pinkslips on TV
Well thanks for putting your life on the line steve.
That make it a little better that it isn't staged straight up. I still think it is gonna be stupid b/c they set up the races.
I just wanna see some dumbass kid running 15.9 trying to race some sleeper.

Re:race for pinkslips on TV
Ya there was a good 8 page thread on HT a few months ago
The owner of the show was gauging interest.
Basically its jsut that, there are no 30k cars or cars with dream setups, cheap fast setups
Low end cars, fully ------- gutted to the ticks, slicks, race gas, nitrous
They also have to both agree to terms of the race, aka jump, car lengths and yes 2 out of 3 runs
Still, gonna be a sick *** show if they dont only have 1 race per show,
Still would be sick to see real negotiating to what will be the loss of someones car, Ill watch it for sure
