Gosh, there always has to be one idiot in the bunch.............. KrazyWhiteBoy

First off, 4.6 rods ARE NOT FORGED.............They are Powdered metal................Freakin idiot. Have you ever worked ona 4.6/5.4 Mod block of any kind? Hell, have you ever done an over head cam V block of any kind? I'll assume no because your above lack of general knowledge about metallurgy and iron founding is skewed.

Overhead blocks are inherently stronger just by design. By not having to place a long and wide 3 to 5 inch hole in the block for a cam, the motor itself is already a stronger cast then most push rods. Why do you think there are so manu aluminum casted OHC blocks that can handle in excess of 500hp, straight from the factory?
4.6/5.4 Miods are bveefier in the mains (exactly the opposite of a 5.0!) because of the fact that it has SIX bolt mains11 4 bolts on top of the main caps and 2 more that go through the block for each mani! The cranks in the SOHC are cast and proven to 800hp the DOHC is forged and proven to 1200hp!

You know why there is no aftermarkey head for the Mod? No one has been able to improve on the damn design that Ford did!!!! In fact, the 5.4 navi head flows well enough for over 1200 HP! JR Granetlli, Used to own Paxton SuperChargers and a few other choice entities.................Well his 5.4 02 Mustang turned 1390 HP with [b]STOCK 5.4 heads, Cams, Block, and Crank! Show me a freakin stock 5.0/5.8 block, crank or HEADS that can make half that!

You call 500 HP out of a Motor BIG POWER That right there would get you laughed out of most circles here. Not to mention you'd have a line of people waiting to race your "High Power" car for cash all day long. 500 hp pretty much the block splitting limit of a Roller 302. To get higher numbers then that Safely, you'll need an after market block for starters. your only choices are Dart or FRPP buy your choiice (Hell a FRPP A4 USED still goes for 3K if you're lucky)..............Oh yeahm they don't come machined, they are rough foundry castings. The internals for said motor....................Didn't think you could just stick your stock 5.0 roller crap into it now did you? First off the blocks are amde for Solids or Flat Tappets. So figure in a decent custom grind cam and Valve train (custom length push rods, springs, keepers, locks). No 5.0 roller parts are good for much more then 500 except the pistons from the 88-92 roller motors because those WERE forged. Not going to tu use a set of old used, presws fit pistons in with your new full floating wrst pin rods anyhow.
Oh you didn't know that you would need new rods with your new block, cam, valve train, pistons and crank? Damn, that's right, still need to find a crank and have it machined for the block.
Now let's see...........We have the New Block, New cam, New crank, New Pistons New valvetrain.........Valve Train?? Oh Snap...........Need to find a nice set of Heads!!! No way you can make any kind of REAL power with any of the Ford Pushrod Castings................I don't care how many hours you have them under the knife!
So let's see to make any type of power outside of 500 with the venerable 5.0 I'd need BLOCK, Cam, Heads, ValveTrain, Pistons, rods, crank......To do Big Power with a 4.6 I'd need Rods and Pistons...............Hmmm Now I wonder which is cheaper to build for BIG POWER?

Now with that said.......I have what I guess you'd call a Big Power 5.0, since I eclipse the 500 to the wheels. Big ------- Whooptie Doo! I have enough Turbo for well over 650 hp BUT I know the block won't stand much of a chance (hell it's not safe now).
There are guys with Street Driven Civics that make 450 to the wheels here (guy by the screen name of stoopid on a lot of Honda forums turns them out down here on the regular). Man there are so, so many LS1 guys here (seeing how MTI, the Ls1 God is local) pushing 500 motor with 200 shots of the dope. Supras making 800 HP are out every Weekend. Did you say 03/04 Cobras with Belle Blowers pushing 700 (and of course they have the giggle gas). There is one guy i know fairly well that has a frekin Neon SRT with mods and Dope pushing 470 HP that runs 11.1 all day long!
So if 450hp is big power to you........Yep yep the 302 is great. If 700 hp is like HUGE, then a 351 is Born Supreme in your world. making numbers past what I listed for wither block is out of the realm of possibilty.

Finally some real information. After looking at prices whoever said that Domestic parts are really cheap has to be smoking crack. It seems like it might be too much money to do a 5 speed V8 conversion since all the ---- to do the swap is ------- expensive. I don't know I'm still looking at cars. If I get a Mustang its definitely going to be a 94+

Anyone know where to get a full swap for an 01' Mustang for cheap?

After swapping a 92 4cyl to a 5.0.....just buy a gt from the start. Its not THAT bad to do but some things will just nickel and dime you to death.

So how much is the V6?
If you are going run a turbo with >500 hp , I would rather start with the 4.6 motor than a 5.0 for sure-many of the reasons already outlined.
But if you want a 450 hp or less motor (turbo or not), the 5.0 sn95s (94-95) are cheap and plentyful (those years do have hypereutectic pistons rather than forged-forged pistons on 5.0s stopped in 92).
With the 4.6 motor, 99 and newer have better heads/intake/cams-about 35-45 hp worth on a NA motor. If you want to run high hp, the pistons and rods need to go.

Yeah but how badly does it nickle and dime you? To buy a GT the same year in the same shape would cost about $6,000 more. I could buy this car, a brand new 01' Cobra longblock and a T56 trans for under $9000

Not that bad i guess....thats a hell of a deal. The computer stuff is gonna be a pain if the car has that PATS system. The k-member is the same iirc just the mounts are different. V6/GT brakes are the same but the v6 has the smaller rear end as you know. The springs/struts you could probably get away with using but i'd upgrade them. The v6 has no rear sway bar and smaller front one. Definately get the GT ones. Ummm lets see what else.....you need the hydroboost brake system because the v6 has a vacuum booster and wont fit with the 4.6. I would try to find a 5 speed to atleast save some hassle there of swapping pedal assemblys and running a clutch cable. For the computer i would use a megasquirt or something like that to avoid the hassle of repinning the harness and finding a cobra computer and whatnot. Thats all i can remember right now but i'd search online too, there's probably like 3243242 articles on swapping stang motors.
