Default Question for you Mustang people...

Is it a bitch to swap out an auto v6 to a 5 speed V8 in an 01' Mustang? I found a car for dirt cheap but its v6 auto with the money I'm saving on the car I would be able to afford to put in a nice motor and a new trans. Is it worth it or just find one thats already v8?

lol, I've thought about it and wondered the same thing. People give those cars away with the homo *** V6 in them. I always wondered what was different like maybe they put a weaker rear-end in or maybe the motor mounts were completely fucked. Hopefully someone knows something about it.....

Yeah they really do. For the price I could get the car for I could drop in a cobra motor and a 5 speed trans and still be cheaper than what the GT's are going for. But the thing is I don't know whats all involved with the swap so I don't want the thing to nickle and dime me.

im thinking the only difference i know of is the rear bumper on v8 has the slots for the dual tips. id imaine to save money they use the saje rear end, but possibly different gears?

theres not alot of difference . i bet the spring rates on the v6 are softer as well

dont even bother with them. if you can find an older mustang and swap it a 5.0L. too much hassle.

i agree that its too much hassel.

its been done, but thats kinda something if you're a redneck and have all the ---- laying around in your front yard kinda thing.

it would be sick, if you bought a foxbody and put a 03/04 cobra motor in it.

they make about 385hp/torque to the ground stock

whitey i would post this question at turbomustangs.com

I'm done with old cars. I miss the days of my 96 Integra where the interior was nice, the paint was perfect and it didn't look like an old *** car. I'm willing to deal with the hassle of swaping the motor if its not that big of a pain in the ***. I do not trust body shops and I absolutely hate doing body work on cars, this Mustang is perfect on the outside, everything it needs is mechanical which I don't mind

I agree. ---- rust buckets with massive body damage. I'm getting older so my cars need to be newer. I was also wondering about the Cameros. I could get 96ish Cameros with a V6 for $1500-$2000 all day long.
