As mentiond before, I am registered for wyo tech in Oct '05.
Im suspossed to get out of the Marine Corps May 12th....live/start a new life...blah blah blah...

My wife mentioned last night extending my contract and going to Japan.

If I go, I will only extend my military contract if I can get my contract exactly the way I want to, with the job i want. Military Police/Dog Handler. If I can...this is what im questioning...

...going to Japan would set me back from having kids, buying a house, buying a new car, going to school...everything I really really want to do in the next few years. Going to japan would pretty much force me to leave my family for 3 years. (the #1 reason im decinding to get out of the MC in the first place)

... the up sides to japan.
1. the money is a hell of alot better
2. my wife and i would be able to travel the other side of the world
3. we would be 99% debt free comming back
4. my wife would be able to finish her degree
5. my wife and i would be able to buy all new furnature, something we NEED right now...

and of coarse the one everyones wanting to hear...since im married over there, and im a NCO, i can have a car. hell yes, and i would be able to roam the junkyard of japan.

What would you do. the odds pretty much equal each other out.

Also, i would bypass going back to iraq. hopefully
(as of right now, no round 2 for me in iraq)

You should try and get orders to mainland Japan instead of Okinawa...
Don't get me wrong Oki is nice but why have an apetizer if you can have a whole meal?

think about what will be best for the future, not tomorrow, but like a couple years. what's best for tomorrow isn't always best for next year if you stay in and get stationed there, you will come back to the states even more ready to carry out your plans than you will be in may. before you buy a house and have a kid, you want to have quite a bit of money saved up and completely debt free, trust me

I'd say go to Japan and come back with a clean slate and no money worries. Plus living in Japan would be nice and having the wife there would top it off. If I was in your spot I'd extend the contract only if you get what you want otherwise I'd tell Uncle Sam you got you time from now I want this but if you can't do that then sianora!
