I wonder if I can take the guts out of the 63/60 and put it all in the 42/48 center section I have.

Well, since the turbine housing/manifold/downpipe is a one piece unit, I either want to replace the whole turbo minus turbine housing, or I want to rebuilt this one, or choke myself.

If I knew I could take the 63/60 wheel out and put it in the 42/48 housing, I'd do it tonight. I'll have to call darksol. I think he did that. haha, I keep starting the car, cause it sounds like an airplane.

Ok, so I took both the 42/48 (good) and 48/60 (bad) center sections apart, and measured them, and they appear to be exactly the same, so I put my 60 comp. housing on it and bolted the whole thing up to my manifold/turbine housing ect.... and now it's on. The only problem is the new center section (42/4 doesn't exactly want to tighten up to the 48 turbine housing. There seems to be like 1mm of play with the whole thing. I took it for a drive, and with no restrictor valve the thing doesn't smoke at all. (woo hoo)
The only thing I have to do now is put the 02 sensor into my dp, and fix the cel (haven't checked it yet).

Things are looking up. <--get it, he's looking up!!! :P

Wow thumbs up to HMT style. Dose running the SMIC like that still fit ok under the bumper? I have one that im going to put on my car when I eventually get around to turboing, but I was planning to mount it in the wheel well.

Keep the pics comming steve, looks great!

Ok, after re-thinking it, I think I'm going to park it and order some parts to make it the way it should be. I've got a turbo that's barely hanging on to the turbine housing, a downpipe that's melting the fan (and leaking), and a shitty dsm intercooler hugging the turbo.
I already ordered a new T3 flange so I can rebuild the turbo right and make an appropriate dp and all that, along with a real intercooler. I tried to do ---- half assed, but it's just not sitting well with the way it is, so I'll work on it another day. :P
