Re: Problems installing XP
Yes, thats where I was, and BIOS recognized the hard drive, and it was the only hard drive connected (so it wouldn't get confused). I said screw it and made it a slave.
and yes it is a legal copy of XP.

set it to Master, put the cable in the Primary IDE connector. Set the bios to boot from 1st the CD, then 2nd the HDD, then put the cd in and restart. Delete ALL partitions and re-partition it, format Quick for NTFS and install this ish.
make sure the CD drive is set to Master and have it on the Secondary IDE connector as well.
in the BIOS set all IDE connectors to AUTO.
btw, what mobo/cpu is this thing, 30gig, sounds like an old p4 or AthlonXP.

^ lol, I already did all of the beforehand and it didn't work. It's a celeron. And BTW, I was thinking maybe the BIOS wouldn't recognize the size of the hard drive, but sure enough it did. And it works fine now.

Re: Problems installing XP
Eh, he wanted Win XP installed on the 300 gig, and the 30 gig to be the secondary because the original was "slow"... well I ran anti-virus, anti-spyware anti-everything and got it running well again... kid had like 200 things startup when windows loaded, no wonder it was so slow... I told him to get more ram too, he only has 256, I told him to upgrade to 512 (thats all the board can support anyways)

No, not to make his PC faster. He does a lot of photography work and needs extra space. He said his comp was running slower than ever and wanted a fresh start as well...
Yeah I don't see how it wouldn't work either. I think my disk is fubar'd
