Well i'm not white trash, i've never lived in a trailor and I'm not of poor/unproper upbringing. Just cause I live in the mountains, drive a 4x4, carry a gun, tackle cows, and wear cowboy boots means I'm not a redneck. If anything it would make me a modern cowboy.. I hate listening to country western and I'm always jammin to some electro sound (I've been on a www.bassdrive.com kick recently).
Another way to look at it as all people resembling a "southern" way or that live out in the sticks could be called a hick. Hell Johnny is a "hick". Being a redneck is far different.

redneck is slang term for a blue collar worker. someone who worked out in the feilds all day or worked a normal job. its not much of an insult unless you were born to some rich *** land owner back in the 1800's riding around in a carrige calling the lowerclass rednecks. in a way coyboys qualify as rednecks.
