Port Forwarding
I am trying to get some port forwarding ---- figured out so I can speed up my torrents.
I have a WRT54G (Linksys wireless router v2.2), DSL through Qwest.
I have had no problem setting up a static IP for my computer. The problem comes in when I try to get the router to properly forward a port.
Is there anyone that has even done this succesfully?

just log onto your router and set your computers lan ip as dmz host. it will by default forward all the extra ports to your machine
I'm assuming you know how to figure out your local IP. Then just log on to your router and it's under setup I believe

I've run a firewalled PC in DMZ on a glitchy Belkin router I couldn't get port forwarding to work on, networked to it as a fileserver.
edit because I gibber incoherently: Hey, Cray, do you have that thread from a couple months back handy, the one about using the WRT54G to access other APs? I recall I found a link to a writeup for you, but I can't find it now. I finally unbricked the WRT54G blundy gave me and would like to tinker.

Depends, I think only one firmware supports using the WRT54G to connect to other access points. I'm still not up to speed on the damn thing as I spent an hour last night flailing around blindly on a CD-bootable linux distro getting it unbricked and flashed with a stock firmware, instead of doing my stupid research project.

I think I had the link, but my desktop is down. Bought a new case and my MB won't fit (even though they said it would). Already demo'd the old case, so now I play the waiting game with NewEgg.com
