You'll enjoy the projector Jorsher. I wouldn't trade any of mine for anything. You building or buying?

Building, once I get off my *** and actually do it. The weekend is my only chance, but it's also my only chance to stay out late and sleep all day.

I do! I have all of the episodes saved on my DVR and they're all from Discovery HD. That show is ------- cool watching it stoned on a 52" LCD in 1080i...i still think the Shallow Seas one is the best. I was on a scuba diving kick for like 3 days after that ----

Good deal! What panel & lenses you using? Im about to start another 18" Beseler with a 17" 1280*720 Asus monitor. The thing came in today and it had SEVENTY MOTHER ------- FAULTY PIXELS!?!?!?!? What in the flying ----!? Meh, atleast Newegg pays shipping both ways.

Meh, I didn't have the fresnels yet anyway. No harm I guess. :\

Nice, so have you already built one?

I'm using pro fresnels, pro triplet, 400w MH ballast, and a 17" 1280x1024 2ms LG LCD, no faulty pixels :P Cost me maybe $40-50

LL is cool and all. But between the laughably overpriced ---- they sell and now being a pay forum. I wouldn't any more give them a dime than the man in the moon! Can be abit of a pain if you need a long throw front fresnel tho.

This is my third. I built one out of a craigslist 1280*768 special normal triplet 330/220 fres, 400w. It was okay but the throw was waaay too short. Gave it to a friend. Second was a 17" 1280*1024 400w 18" Beseler. Slow blah monitor I got from the savation army store. Its okay for movies but its so old it can NOT handle the FPS games. OK for movies/HDTV tho. Bulb needs replacing after a year anyway. Thing was probably running 4-8 hours a ------- day. :\ Gave that one too a family member that wanted it for football parties over Christmas.

This one is going to be HUGE. Not sure how Im going to light it right now. Its going to wind up 165"+ in the studio because of the 16-18' throw even with the 18" Beseler Im gunna use. Even if I re-ebay my 18"B for a 24"B, it's still going to be a long way and loose an assload of light.

On that LCD, you better run a solid black and a solid white image and go over it slowly with your face about six inches from the screen. If it's visible that close, it'll drive you NUTS on the projected image for real! Run some of the pixel desticker flashy color mcprograms overnight too. Trust me on that! Those damned dark blue/purple pixels can be HARD to see!

lol, it's been gone over by my face on black and white images, after being gone over by LG. It's a refurb so they have to go through all sorts of tests. It was D-class because it has "mura" defects which are slight inconsistencies in the contrast due to the backlight...which won't be an issue...and because it has light leakage around the edges, which again won't be an issue since both are related to the backlight/casing and not the actual LCD panel.

I agree that LL has gone to ----. What started as an enthusiast board with low prices for the DIYer has gone to a commercialist BS site where they try to make all the money they can. I was pissed to see that the bulbs are so damn expensive now. You know where to get a good T15 bulb with a good CRI, lumen output, and 6500k color temp?

I fortunately bought all these parts a couple years ago before the site went to ----, and they were used which made them even cheaper.

Give me some tips on the enclosure. The DIY guide gives the info I need for measuring the optics, but I could use some tips on the actual enclosure before slapping the money down and making mistakes.
