people in 3rd world countries do not have the right to defend themselves either, but if you were to actually look up the stats you would find the crime right in a place like syria is far lower than here.

I'm going to have to go with boosty on this one. I might drive +5 over sometimes, but I don't drive reckless like a dumb ***. You are on a public road owned by the government. When you got your license you made the agreement to abide by their laws and rules. You don't have a right to drive. If you don't want to follow the rules don't drive, plain and simple.
I would much rather them ticket the hell out of people and make the road safer. I have a idea, leave a few min earlier if your in such a rush. The comments about the cameras and microphones in your house are just stupid. That's private property not a public road way.

but I think speed cameras are better idea than having a cop pulling you over and giving you a speeding ticket.
atleast with the camera you know for sure that you got a ticket for speeding, and not an ------- cop ticketing you because he don't like your type.
I live in Germany and I flashed a lot in the past, but now the local radio station tells you where the cameras are set up, they set them up in random areas at any time a day.
I think the camera gives you fair chance than a cop

Either way, nothing is going to change and the laws aren't going anywhere so no matter how much we bitch about it, nothing is going to change. Might as well just obey the laws or don't bitch about having to pay a ticket when you get caught. I can honestly say everytime I've received a ticket I deserved it. It sucked having to pay all those tickets, but it was my own fault. I don't even worry about it anymore because I obey the traffic laws. It's not that hard. I have my moments, but I keep it reasonable and don't do it on congested streets....where they have cameras. __________________

Basically what you're saying is you want to live in a police state. Even though you're a big boy, you agree the government should be able to force you to wear a seatbelt, even though as a free citizen, you should be able to not wear it if that's what you want.
The speed cameras are a money maker. The state government doesn't give a ---- about safety, they care about the revenue and keeping you under control. You're all fine and dandy with speed cameras until the people you trust to save you (government) decides that a 60mph zone should now be a 40mph zone. People don't drive according to speed limits, they drive according to the safest allowable speed. Now you find yourself crawling down this street at a snails pace because years before you supported speed cameras. You won't like them then, but it will be too late. You won't have the option to get rid of them then, because your state will be counting on the millions of dollars it generates every year.
Next they'll put cameras everywhere except inside your house, so the nanny known as your elected douchebags can watch over you. Did you hear about the school district putting RFID cards on the kids' backpacks? You're in favor of that too. Governments job isn't to protect us from ourselves. When you allow it, you aren't free anymore, you're being babysat.
