Does the stainless heat shield make a big difference in underhood temps?

Just a little, but not as much as I wanted. I never had a stock one, and I wanted something over it to help with heat, and to hide my ugly *** manifold. It does a good job at hiding the manifold, but not so much with the heat. I'm planning on ceramic coating the manifold, and hoping it helps.

If the engine bays weren't so tight it wouldn't mean so much, but DSM bays are positively thermonuclear after a fifteen minute joyride.

The DSM's i've had experience with were pretty descent, 1. 92 TSI/AWD ported 16g, ripped hard even though the owner was a retard. 2. not a dsm but 98 gsx, decent for a t25, but a huge money pit/pile of garbage, always breaking down, that and the owner was a retard, he went to UTI for 3 months before he dropped out and still calls me to help him change the spark plugs :1

They look sharp, but I would still rather have a tubo d in a honda

Huh?!?!? DSM = Diamond Star Motors.....most commonly referring to the Eclipse, Talon, and Laser, somebody correct me if I am wrong.

They look sharp? Until you pop the hood, or in the case of 1G see the interior.

I actually like the feel of the interior of the 1g....it made you feel like your were in the cockpit of an airplane. However, the choice in materials and the actual execution of fabrication SUCKED. Somebody could make a small fortune in making a replacement dash pad for those cars.

Having been in a couple airplane cockpits, the three private jets used by Progress Energy in Raleigh were the newest, an '01 and two '03s IIRC, I can attest that a DSM is nothing like an airplane cockpit. They are unpleasantly prohibitive of movement, and the seats are soggy and lack any sort of support for the *** or spine.

2G's and Galants are a bit of alright, though. Not the best by far, but they do better than 90% of Civics with seat swaps.

C'mon, you know I didn't mean that they REALLY look like an airplane cockpit, I just ment that I personally thought all the instrumentation was geared towards the driver. I'm not a small guy and the only thing that I found kind of limiting was that mine had an aftermarket power sunroof in it and they 'floated' the headliner so I sometime felt like my head was pressing into the headliner material, but that was only when my hair was like and not flat topped :P
