Not true, Look at Cigerettes, Booze...They can tax it under a regualtion system.

The real reason is the US govt makes waay too much money off of it being illegal. Look at all the prisoners, anti-drug funding, the DEA...all Very high dollar money making things..Legal drugs=No money...except a piddly tax.

That's true as well.. They can tax cigarettes and booze, but how many people make/grow cigarettes and booze in their basement? They don't need to so they don't. People grow marijuana, have meth labs etc and the government can't tap into that.. maybe if there were industries distributing it, who knows. You're right though, I didn't think of that, they do make a lot of money off of it as-is.

In my mind, here's the one catch about legalizing anything.
You have a nation of people being restrained from something.
Take away the restraint and how many people will try drugs? Misuse them? OD on them?
On function of the laws are in place to prevent people from harming themselves.

I agree with Justin.If you legalize drugs all the people that have thought about using them but dont buy them because of fear of getting cought buying them and loosing what they have will go right out and do it.Then this country will be over run by junkies.It will make the problem worse IMO.
