Overclocking a OEM Dell

Overclocking a OEM Dell
I have a P4 HT dell PC 4600. I was trying to overclock it and I got it up to 3.2 from the stock 2.8 but I can't seem to get my SATA drives to pop back up. Not being recoginzed by BIOS. anybody got any suggestions as to how I can get my ---- back? If I yank the plug out and reset it back to factory defaults I get my SATA's back but if I overclock it at all I lose them.
I need some help from anyone who speaks Geek.
All threads with out Pic suck so heres my frankenstein.

and yes those are twist ties holding the 120mm fan in a 90mm hole. I used a Hole saw/Dremel combo for the Super Terrific HMT air vent there.

Re: Overclocking a OEM Dell
cases are cheap but a hole saw was in the garage. a case wasn't.
WTF? bolts are cheap but Bitchasscraker used JB weld for a BOV. Whats the difference here? It ------- worked. His car hauls *** and my ---- flows like a champ.
The issue is the BIOS. does anybody here know anything about PLL's or BIOS info? I OC'd the PLL I have, 952601 using the layout for PLL 952607 which is pretty much the same but not really. I am trying to find the differerances between the two. Maybe I can re-flash my bios but I dunno.

I don't know. I build my own because I know what parts are put in it, it isn't full of bullshit software, and I haven't had any problems like this (yet)...
No clue what a PLL is, but I've never heard of an oc'ed proc making drives disappear. Is there a bios update for the motherboard?

Might want to try unhooking that cathode light too, the voltage regulators they come with are junk and usualy cause problems with the PS.

Re: Overclocking a OEM Dell
For real though, when you're overclocking and you hit the limit...funny things happen in BIOS. Weird glitches everywhere, especially BIOS. Infact, you might not find glitches anywhere else but in BIOS. You may have fried something serious...I don't know much about dell motherboards but you may be able to get away with just resetting CMOS and trying again.
There might be corruption in the CMOS from your overclocking, so either reset it with the jumper or pull the battery out. I'd start there first. Just restarting the computer won't do it.

Re: Overclocking a OEM Dell
There seem to be a lot of substandard Dell motherboards. I don't know Dells very well, but two of my three P4's were pulled off of dead Optiplex 160 motherboards.
I have a friend who overclocked his HP; it had an MSI motherboard and he just looked up the numbers on it until he found MSI's BIOS for it which allowed him to fiddle clock speeds. The HP BIOS didn't offer any such feature.
