overbore question
ok so im building a z6 currently. ive never built a motor before..
long and short of it is i was planning on just honing the cyl walls and rolling with stock sized vitaras.. there isnt a "ridge" to be spoke of ( between tdc and the deck of the block)... theres only a texture difference in the cyl wall.... which to me means there is minimal wear there
my question is this
how many of you jackasses have put a motor together without overboring and what kinda success have you had
i dont wanan invest all this time in this ---- and have a motor that smokes.. and id RATHER not overbore it becasue i already have pistons
i suppose the easy way to find out it to measure the bores but i dont have ---- to do that right now
so... whos ghetto built a motor and had it turn out ok?

Re: overbore question
I did vitaras and it was slightly overbored...got tones of blowby because of big ring gaps. Get correctly sized rings and pistons, if piston-to-wall clearance is ok, then use the pistons and get good rings. I personally would say just do whatever you have to for a properly done detup. Don't ---- around with vital componenets
