Supra engine is badass, but they go for like $2500. Too rich for my blood. 1UZ is like $500.
I think the 1uz will sound pretty nasty

What you think it will sound like spooling a HX40?

Where are you located? I'm sure I could find someone who wants that motor.

Re: Out of the turbo honda game. Got a '77 Celica.
I've been wanting to do something with a 1UZ for a while now. I was considering all sorts of different shells, old mango and peanut corollas, 1980 corolla wagon. I picked the 77 celica, because it kinda looks like a 67 camaro, classic muscle style but smaller. I like jap-style technology, high revs, fuel injection, turbo, OHC, 4 valves per cylinder, alloy heads and blocks, light weight. But I'm really not a fan of most modern rwd jap body styles. Most hooked up supras and 240SXs make me want to gouge my eyeballs out. I definitely prefer 510s, Z-cars, RX3s, celicas, and corollas.
I'm planning on using the supra r154 tranny. I am kicking the tires on one in MI, buddy wants $300 plus shipping, I'd like to pay $300 shipped. I was thinking of making an adaptor plate btwn the stock auto bellhousing and the r154. If that isn't happening I will get a dellow or castlemaine bell housing.
I'm picking up a complete EDIS-8 coilpack setup. Woot woot. The parts pile has started.

1jz, that engine is just sick. 2.5l inline 6, revs to 10k with a valvetrain. not to mention most people put straight t4's on those bitches and make 500hp on stock internals. thats where its at
