its not the traffic ---- that got him 30days in the hotel, its the failure to appear. VA is one of the most stric states when it comes to traffic fines/pumishment and on my 3rd driving on susp i got 5days and they let me serve weekends.



and the reason he HAD to go for the original ticket is because if you are facing jailtime for a traffic crime you must appear in court (DUI, Wreckless, etc)

That makes sense. Out here if you don't pay a speeding ticket you get a failure to appear. Then they suspend your liscense, but it's just a bench warrant and they usually won't take you to jail for it. They just issue another court date and take your liscense until you get it reinstated.

he should have asked for weekends, i had to only miss 1 day of work, the day i was in court

That's too funny to me that they'd let you do only weekends, like that'd be such a punishment compared to a regular jail sentence.
