Default Opinions Trading my 92 Integra for a 96 Accord

92 Integra
B16a
5spd
No AC(relay problem)
Leaky oil pan
2003 Si rims
Blue Book
Trade in Value = $1,200
Private Sell Value = $2,300

96 Accord EX
2 door
Leather
F22 Vtec
5 spd
Needs Paint
Blue Bool
Trade in Value = $3,000
Private Sell Value = $4,700

Situation, I accepted a promotion at work, but I will be traveling about 70 miles each way. I do about 40 now and with the WRX I'm spending about $450 a month in gas only. Almost doubleing the distance could mean double gas spending. The company will pay mileage, but still I don't feel like putting that many miles on the WRX. Need a daily beater.
The Integra is not that reliable right now. My plan was to sell it, around $3000 and buy something better, maybe cash, maybe a used car with a small (7-9k) loan. This guy offered me the trade.

The Accord is worth more for a dealer as it is. Even if I decided to trade it in, I still can get the $3000 I wanted. I can sell it in the street for more than the Integra anyhow. Gas would be pretty good still.
I can always turbo the F22, that would be interesting. Looks like a decent trade.

Is there anything you would watch for other than the usual, make sure there's a title, and test drive it.
What would you do?
Thanks.

I'd trade it... be careful though, get a mechanic to check it over before you buy it as well.

I think I win either ways, because if it ends up being blown or something like that as long as it drives to a dealer so I can trade it in, I'm good.
But I think it would be a solid car as a daily driver if it is mechanically good.

With the paint, my brother-in-law has a shop, I get it repainted for the price of materials, so I don't care if it is peeling, as long as it is not crashed.

I think it might be a good trade....I'm waiting for pics....

Oh, so you don't know the guy in real-life? I've had those kind of people before "I'll trade you my car for yours blah blah blah"and none of them EVER came through. Hell, one guy said he was going to come over THAT DAY to see my Civic when I was trying to sell it, I was waiting around for a good 2 hours before and 2 hours after when he said he was going to come, he never came, gave me some BS excuse for not coming and I never heard from him again.

Well you probably won't even think this is a good idea. But to me, if you're looking for a daily beater just to drive for mileage. You should really think about getting a 95-99 DOHC neon. You can pick one up for about $2000 in decent shape. They take VERY little maintenance and with the DOHC they're a little peppier than the Single. Plus they'll get about 36-40mpg with a good tune-up.
They really are pretty fun cars, if anyone gave them a chance you might find that you like them. although they do look a little too "cute" on the outside. Not as many frills as an accord either.

And don't anyone start spewing of the mouth about how unreliable neons are and how they break all the time and how their "friend" had one and it was a piece of crap, yes they are cheap cars, so are civics. they do have their certain problem areas like headgaskets, but they are so easy to fix stuff like that, then you've got a good reliable car that gets great mileage and will go just as long as a civic without dying.

my .02 cents anyway.

They are reliable as long as you have the MLS headgasket. I had a 98 SOHC I did the DOHC head/wiring swap on and it was great. That is until I hard shifted into 2nd and the front solid engine mount ripped right out of the front rad. support. Probably a fluke

I had a 95 DOHC Neon first year of college, actually my first car ever. It was fun and all, never gave me any problems, but they just look so, well it's a Neon....lol....you know what I mean, but if I could pick one up cheap, I would consider it.

Here's the thing.

I know and have hang out with a guy that currently has an 89 Mustang GT. He is selling/trading his car and wanted my car. But I don't want a 5.0, hello I need gas economy. So some third guy that I don't know, offered to trade him the Accord for the GT. Then he would trade me the accord for the integra. He doesn't know that guy either, but the guy owns a shop/parts sale, and said the car is solid mechanically, runs good and everything works.

It's a 3 way trade.....But of course I need to see and drive this thing before doing anything.
