Default Opinion for block to build

I decided to ditch my idea for the non-tec and finally ordered up a complete b16a for the time being. Now i'm looking around my garage and seeing 2 blocks laying there just begging to be built for some serious boost...my b16a block and my b18a1 block. Thing is, i'm not sure which one would be a better motor to build for complete boost ownage. I like the nice rod to stroke ratio of the b16 and i can hook up on TunerToys deal on rods for it, but i know the b18 bottom would make a little more torque. Which casting is considered stronger, even though I'll probably get the block completely sleeved anyway? Lets hear some opinions...keep in mind that this is going to be a full all out build, nothing stock except the crank and i'm more than likely gonna hook up on a huge Garret T-60 or just stick to my t3/to4e 60 trim. So post em up, let's hear some pro's and con's too.

i've also thought about this, since i've got a bare LS block and a built GSR head waiting to get raped. also been trying to figure out, will the ACL bearings tuner toys carries be able to sustain 10k rpm's? with the head I have, i want to be able to use it to it's full potential but on a turbo setup

The advantage of the B18a is the block is longer, that aside, the b16 has provisions for oil squirters which can not be added to the b18a; not a huge deal but nice none the less. Also, there are some people who've been able to fit LS crankshafts inside a b16 before; just takes a custom piston with the wristpin moved up. Usually these motors are really high comp and are all N/A, not sure if that is due to the builder, or if a high comp piston is the only way to use that crankshaft. Either way, I'd look into it. Also, if the LS crank will work at a high compression ratio, then there is no reason the GSR crank wouldn't work.

You can add oil squirters to an LS block. It is not a huge deal, and it's not worth the hassle.

Eh, Jeff is a bit of a loudmouth idjit. I disagree with him on a good half of what he says... and saying his IB spec rods are better than Eagle, when they are the same forging, is assinine.

Learned something new today then; I've never seen someone bother with doing that, because like you said, its not really worth the hassle.
