Ontario Guys: Insurance and Boost
this msg is for the ontario guys..
how has owning a boosted car affected your insurance?
what company are you with?
how much do u pay?
any extra hassles that come with owning a boosted car?
is it worth it owning a boosted car, especially if you live in a big city...i live in toronto and get hassled enough with my stock civic...
ohh and share any experiences with cops and your boosted car. like what kind of ---- do they give you and any legal issues that people should be aware of...
this is mostly for honda/acura owners...
please chime in...

Re: Ontario Guys: Insurance and Boost
i don't tell my insurance company.
i got pulled over once for wrong coloured driving lights and was asked,
cop: "do you have nitrous?"
me: i used to, but is isn't in the car... can i ask you a question?
cop: sure
me: is nitrous illegal?
cop: no.
me: then what is the purpose of your question?
cop: if you had it and it wasn't secured in the car properly it would be impounded.
me: can i show you how i had it setup in the trunk? (get out of car show cop bottle mounting brackets still in the trunk).
cop: that is fine, most kids just stuff the bottle between the two front seats or have it rolling around in the back seat and that is when it is a problem.
me: thanks, cool.
oh, and don't have your valve on your bottle open on the street either, but it is legal to have it in the car.

You don't tell em. If you've got a clean record, SoloOntario has something in the works. Otherwise, it's off to facility with you.
So yeah, say nothing. When my agent asked me about the exhaust: The old one was rusted out and I needed this to pass the etest. Wheels always come with the car. Turbos just don't exist. Unless they're stock.

if you actually go and tell the insurance company "hey i just installed a turbo kit on my onced non-turbo car" you need help. Boost and insurance should not be in the same PHRASE.
unless u drive an EVO or STI etc.

1) under a certain weight you need no markings on your car. something like 5kg.
2) If over 5kg (say your watch F&F and are l33t cuz u got 5 bottles) you need to have certifications in TDG and acomanying placards / shipping documentation.
