Queens of the Stoneage. Kyuss. Head Automatica. Ghostface. Pharoe monch. (sp) Iggy Pop. Theloneus Monk. Bela Fleck and the Flectones.

I tend to go through stages and just zero in on a band or type of music and beat it into the ground so this has been what I've been obessing over for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

I'm feeling you on 85% of that. Pre-85 country (or most any pre-85 country artist) is somewhat good, and the older stuff is somewhat excellent.

I don't know what it is. I got into this outlaw country thing and hell I started picking up western movies now. I hit rock bottom last night while buying my Kris Kristofferson cd and bought both Young Guns movies and watched part two twice. My wife was like, didn't you just watch this lol. Hell I'm not even 30 yet and I feel like I'm 50.

The Outlaw scene was the last of the good country. George Jones would get drunk and talk like Donald Duck (I don't think it was intentional), and most of those guys were individually charged with more counts of inciting riots, assault, arson, etc, than any ten "hardcore" modern bands combined. They didn't sing about how hard they were because they didn't have anything to prove, and didn't give a ---- what you thought... which is why gangster rap, nu-metal, and all that ---- is effeminant if not outright homosexual.

I watched Jeremiah Johnson w/ Robert Redford Friday night, that's a good one, more mountain/folk/frontier than the later wild west genre, but solid nonetheless and not as hokey as some of the westerns.

Young Guns stuff was decent, but (aside from Tombstone) you really have to go back some years for the good westerns.
