I have a relative in the "inside" at GM. Last week he took a look at the 2006 GTO and a few others. The 06 GTO doesnt change much. It has 18" wheels, hood scoops (duh) and continues the LS2 (with possibly 415 HP).
There is a 2-door coupe Grand Prix coming as well. The 05 Monte and Impala (I'm sure you have seen) are nice and the Solstice is just amazing (in production form) for the price. Solstice is said to be under-rated. Stock dyno will produce close to 200HP at the wheels.
I know there will be flames towards me... but I'm just relaying the message.

domestic car companies are only good at building trucks, if I buy a truck it would have to be American.
but I am currently looking into buying the crysler pacifica minivan, because the odyssey is out of my price range.

200hp at the wheels?
That's almost as impressive as....well, a metro. 200hp does not excite me at all. How much does that thing cost anyway? If it's over 15 grand I would definately expect more than a meager 200hp. That doesn't cut the mustard these days, I mean come on - even Honda has a Civic that puts out about 200hp, maybe not to the wheels...but it's got some other nice ---- too.

if you are saying japs, and euros are bettter at building slow economy cars, you are probably right.
