Default o2 sensor, honda CRX

my CRX as standard does not have an o2 sensor however with the HF manifold I have bought there is a threaded hole presumably for the o2 sensor on other models. Could someone tell me what the advantage of having an o2 sensor there would be? So far I have blanked off the hole with a blanking cap but if i could put it to some use then thats always better...
My guess is that this sensor well erm "senses o2 (oxygen)" but im wondering why and is it vital for engine monitoring on a turbo converted car
thanks in advance

Here's the scoop. If you use the same engine/ecu that is in the car then you don't have to add one. However, if you change to an Si engine then the ecu will require one or you will get a CEL.

that engine is Fuel Injected right? like on the intake manifold it says PGM-MPFI? or similar?

Do u have a helms?

I can't say with any certainty that there is an o2 on the EDM 4g's. I would just look at the entire exhaust from the head to say, 1ft (30cm) after the cat. If you see some wires coming out of what looks like a plug then thats the o2 sensor.

it definitely doesnt have an o2 sensor as standard... it is a PGM-FI. What else could I use on the threaded hole of the HFD manifold? I could wire up some sort of temperature reading device but not sure if it would be useful knowing the temp of my manifold. Anyone else with no o2 sensor put theres too use?
thanks

Yup de EDM 2nd gen CRX does not have an O2 sensor.
You can put one on HF manifold to monitor A/F ratio with an A/F gauge.
