A guy in a civic has an overly gay wing on his car. He's not a stupid person, he's seen as a stupid IMPORT DRIVER.

At cruise night the guy in the integra does a burnout for no apperent reason. Not a dipshit, he's an IMPORT DRIVER.

(This happens over and over in every city from LA to NY. The overall perception of the public is that IMPORT DRIVERS are stupid morons)

Then on a dark street in Queens, two cars line up for a money race. One of the cars obviously has a vacuum leak or a TPS issue. They take longer to do burnouts than John Force in the final round, while cars honk at them. For $2600 I'd like to have a fair start with lights rather than some guy flapping his arms. Traction is going to be better at the local track as well.
In the end, the other drivers don't know this is a money race or why these guys want to race, they just see more IMPORT DRIVERS driving like idiots on the street with no regard for other people. It further pounds home the perception that everyone else already has, that IMPORT DRIVERS are fucken idiots. Then everytime I go out to the garage to work on the car I love that when it gets done, the only thing people will see the car and myself as is a fucken dumb *** IMPORT DRIVER.

I know this was just a race that was going to happen anyway and you just filmed it. It's not a personal attack, it's more of a rant of common sense. At the level of these two cars, there's no reason why either of them couldn't see the benefits of racing at the track (other than safety of course). I guess some would say it's the thrill of the chase (with cops and breaking the law), but after its all said and done, the only thing they accomplished on the street that they couldn't accomplish at the track is pounding the perception to the 10 drivers honking thier horns behind them.

And then someone gets pulled over and can't figure out why, other than the cops hate imports. I wonder why.

/Rant. :P

I've seen staging battles take less time.

Yeah. It never ceases to amaze me how much money people drop to go fast, and their cars never get dialled in right.

And then, some people go so far for so little...

Honduhs idle like stock with IACV removed. Just reset throttle stop + air bleed, adjust TPS as required. Takes 20 minutes of your life.

The Integra's problem is either incompetent tuning - idle fuel maps look like hamburger, believe it or not, boost is the easiest range to tune - or they retained the FITV. FITV is the first thing to lose if you want a good idle on a stock Honduh. As the power level goes up, the FITV is increasingly likely to fail. While no one who hasn't owned/tuned 1000cc+ injectors is going to think your idle is pimpsauce and the sign of mechanical acumen, at least you don't look like a jackass in front of the riceboys, or interweb critics like yours truly.

*No personal attacks below either...i am just letting you know how it is by me*
*I did not proofread below either cause i'm on my lunch break*

Good points Steve. But first off I wanna say, I did not film the vid, instead some acquintances did. Regardless, the spot where these two cars ran is a spot that's been around since my father's time. The amount of rubber that is at the starting line is ridiculous. It is a known spot so most people in the area know the deal. Granted not everyone does but it's not all imports at this spot. The spot has been a known racing spot for the past 30 years. The last vid that I posted up here about a month ago with an 80's olds doing a run and pulling a wheelie for at least 40 feet with the rear bumper nearly scraping the floor that is basically the same situation as this run except for the fact that it was a muscle car so it was cool. That run with the muscle car run happened at this same spot too.

A month ago I went to this same spot to see another import run, but when I showed up there were about 100 muscle cars there already. Their staging took much longer than this. ONe car was a 90's stang on juice and the other was a blown stang. I am not sure of the amount they were running for but they were at least low 10 second if not high 9 second cars.

The closest track to me is over an hour and a half away. ANd I have to pay a few tolls to get there and hope I don't break down because I can't tow my car back over a bridge with a tow rope. The track that used to be close, only an hour away, closed down last year. I live on long island and the nearest track that is about two hours away is in Englishtown, NJ. We try to find desolate industrial roads to run on, but we always get chased/arrested/etc. There aren't any good places to run.

Imports get a bad name because of the age of the people driving them. The majority of new drivers are inexperienced and take more chances, drive faster etc. This has been going on for years. Our parents went through the same situation when they were younger in the muscle car era. There is no way it is going to change. THere is no way to change a whole population of young people. For the most part young people can only afford a cheap honda/toyota etc. for the gas reasons and because they're cheap cars. WHen I was younger I had an 80 camaro/69 chevelle/80 olds. Reason being is that the imports were new and I couldn't afford them I was only able to afford what was cheap and not to mention gas was not an issue either.

Trust me we all want a local track but it's not going to happen anytime soon. On local boards we've been petitioning for a new track to be built and the legislators have been saying that they'll find a solution to the issue. The problem is that a track has been proposed in a wooded area and now the legislators are turning their backs on us. They just want to appease the masses and tell them what they want to hear. I don't see a track being made near me for at least another 5 more years.

If you're caught street racing around here by the cops they take your car right on the spot. It happened to a few people I know and their lawyer fees are crazy just to have a chance to get it back. That is another reason why we want a track.

That is about all I can type for now....

To sum up...
yes they're stupid for running on the freeway.
Muscle car guys have done it for over 30 years.
We want to race on a track.
There is no close track near us.
Imports will always get a bad name because that is what young people can afford...

I hate ricers.
