Lets see, fluffy mcpuffkins... My cousin threw a log through an RX7 windshield. Last time I looked, Honda didn't make RX7's.

And someones

Just got finished rebuilding my friends SR20DET from his 240. Not much to the install really. Had the motor out in about 2 hours and back in faster. Doesn't need an aftermarket fuel pump either. And while it may seem like jumping on the bandwagon to just throw in an SR into the 240 instead of just boosting the KA, you do have the reliability of running a motor already ready for boost as apposed to boosting an NA KA motor. And no, we did not rebuild the SR because it failed, just had a lot of miles on it and was ready for a slight rebuild.(new rings and bearings) I've got friends with boosted KA's, and SR's, and both are excelent cars, not bashing on the KA's.

newsflash - once you boost an NA motor, its no longer NA. what do you mean "already for boost"?

That is an illogical ASSumption.

The KA24 is plenty stout when boosted, it just doesn't come with a silly plug and play already tuned for boost OEM ECU, and that is why the KA24 is less reliable in the hands of idiots. Now, if you understand you know shinola about how to tune a vehicle, or that Nissan boys have awesome inexpensive tuning tools like the BikiROM USB daughterboard, etc, and consciously decide that you are either 1) too stupid or 2) don't have the time to learn about tuning or 3) don't have the cash to spare for someone else to do your tuning or 4) just intimidated by the situation, then by all means go SR20. They are a great engine, just like the KA24.

PS - the original poster is a douche. I've been into Honduhs since '96-97, long before the first lowered kitted shitwagon hit the east coast after the sport trash compactor craze detonated like a huge shitbomb in SoCal in '93-94. I like Honduhs because I like Honduhs. I also like boosted classic Sentras despite their weak transmissions, fox chassis Fords, and small chassis Triumphs for similar reasons.

I, however, despise heavy **** 240SX with inferior IRS running small displacement engine with dinky *** turbo - the hype upgrades for which are hideously expensive and not terribly impressive baller-bearing turbos that die quickly and lend no real performance increase. If a 1.6 Honduh engine fully spools a T04E compressor, capable of 30% more power than a Disco Poop for half the price, by halfway through it's rpm band then a 2.0-2.4 liter has no ------- excuse, yet the hype boys keep strangling those engines with dinky *** turbines and insist on pushing super hot air from inefficient and overspooled chihuahua-head sized compressors into their engines. Frankly, it's ------- amazing any of the Nissan engines stand up to that abuse.

Actually JD, the stock ECU does suprisingly well with boost. I've seen lots of guys running low boost (180whp or so) with absoloutly no changes to the fuel system, good AFR's too.

It's called a knock-feedback loop, and I don't define that as surprisingly well. If you flog the turbo engines with turbo ECUs in stock form they are known to go into a knock feedback loop and melt the engine down if you don't keep your eyes on the temp gauge... the NA alternative without the correct base mappings to start from is even more vulnerable.

I did all Mike Robichaud's OBD0 Honduh beta testing; Ghettodyne, which became TE, if you weren't around back then. Mike's now the guy behind ZControl, and I have a few ins on the Nissan ECU world, as well as a few real world cars I have both experience with and open access to - GTi-R powered SE-R with GT35/40R, huge FMIC, 3" charge pipe and a bone stock S13 era 240.

Seriously, bro, I don't mean to be an argumentative asshat about this stuff, but there is a BIG difference between a shitty setup that you can get away with and the way things *should* be done. Rig jobs have little or no margin of safety. If you do things the way it should be done, sometimes when a component or sensor fails you shift into the "shitty setup you can get away with" mode, which the driver detects because the vehicle runs differently and fixes the car before it melts down.

A BikiROM daughterboard and MAF setup takes really well to blind chipping, since MAF tunes aren't VE based. When you read actual air mass it's easy to nail AFRs and ignition timing. All the Nissan stuff is really simple to deal with... Goforth's GTi-R SE-R runs a z32 MAF, you just cut the z32 MAF table out of a 300ZX ROM and paste it into the SE-R or GTi-R ROM (same ECU, different ROM) cut and paste desired AFR and timing tables (stick with GTi-R) and then fiddle injector size and deadtime. Done deal, the tune rocks out with it's **** out straight out of the box, and if you want to go back and lean things out or play with timing for more power it's pretty simple to do so.

JWT's are overpriced and not worth the money IMO. im jealous, i dont have much experience with the swap. have fun. i love the sr20... hopefully mine will see boost this summer.
I hear the enthralpy chips are dead on.
