Although I personally don't think they're old enough to be a "classic" yet, even though they are 20 years old now, I can see them (crxs especially) being considered a classic one day.
There are a lot of cars that were once considered shitboxes and are now classics. I don't see anything different happening to a cheap japanese car that has garnered a larger number of enthusiasts than a lot of current classics.

a s200 or city turbo or turbo II would be the exceptions for "classics"
