the reason why i got them is because my brother works in a corportae center for whole foods and they cycle all their old ---- from the past year, including servers and hard drives. i simply picked them up. the sparc server is old though. that ---- has 4 motherboards in it. i harsdly even use it simply because the damn plug is one of those plugs where you hook up a welder or your washer and dryer to. so at the moment its sitting at my brothers house. but its still mine negros.

My bang for the buck system. I built it about a year ago. Cars eat up too much money to build me an uber gaming rig. Bought just about everything from newegg.com

Old Antec case.(It's got 4 80mm fans and I paid 10 bucks for it so stfu).
P4 2.8HT Prescott core w/ Aerocool Hightower heatsink
ABIT IS7 Mobo 800mhz FSB
600 watt power supply
2 gigs of Corsair pc3200
ATI Radeon 9800XT w/ upgraded fan/heatsink
Seagate 80gb HDD
DVD-Rom
CD-burner
Midiland MX-5 5.1 speakers
Saitek Gamer keyboard
Saitek X45 stick and throttle
Belkin Nostromo NS2
Viewsonic 19" CRT
WinTV tuner card.

built the whole thing for a little under 1000 bucks.

I originally had a 450 watt PS. I kept having trouble with my fan rpm's droppin. I've got 4 80mm's, 4 60mm's, and a 3.5" drive bay fan, plus the 9800XT and Prescott chips are power hogs. The problem was fixed after I put in the 600 watt PS.

lol. theres no point. your power suply will power a buncha ----. im runing a 300 in my dual p3, its got the scsi hard drives, the dual cd roms, the single ide har drive, and a couple case fans. works out just fine. just read into what your components need. suprisingly you dont need much at all. like a single case fan takes up like what? 5 watts? thats nothing. a hard drive takes what? 20 watts? 30 watts?

thats nothing.

I think power supply ratings are peak power not sustained. Going to the bigger power supply cured my fluctuating fan rpm's. I think the wattage requirements manufacturers put on their components are bogus anyway.

my geforce 6800 ultra wont even run on a 350 watt. so i have a 500w because it didint run to well on a 400 still needed juice. now if you had pci express 6800 ultras in sli you would probebly need a 600w. my sata's are hard on power too

msi k8n neo 2 platnium nforce 250gb
2 80 gig 10k rpm sata drives in raid
2 gigs corsair 400
3700+ socket 754 bling blow chip
geforce 6800 ultra frying pan

... are you sure?

1. no such thing as a 10k rpm 80 gb hard drive.
2. the NEO2 is a s939. and if say u meant neo s754 there's only 3 ram slots and 2g of ram is not possible.

and if you say you "dont know much about PC's and was wrong" then you shouldnt even have that kinda hardware.
