I just bought the speedglass last week, sounds like you went to Toll... He gave me a few bucks off to convince me, and I love it. I got the #10, and it's definately brighter than the #12 we had. My roomates don't like it, but I dig it. Way nicer to have a auto-darkening.

Welds are looking good, keep practicing and get Derek some shades so he can watch and learn.

The welder I got at sears. Even though I was ready to pay for it outright, they gave me 15% off for starting a sears card, so I got a 15% discount and will pay off the whole thing the first month. The welder was about $450. The gas, bottle, and a big spool of wire was $166.

I've been researching prices and ---- on these things for a little over a week. I feel bad because if I would have waited for it to arrive from somewhere else I coulda saved some money, but it was a saturday, and I wanted my ----.


Moral: Wait and save money, or get it now and pay for it. Either way, I'm still happy that I can finally weld anything at the drop of a hat.
