Default New topic at Whitey's request.

This thread is for you, whitey.

I want to learn welding, and was just wondering if this was a decent welder to start with. It's only gonna be for having fun with car stuff, not any type of commercial work.

TIA

before asking this question, go to amazon.com and buy a welding book. after reading it, ask yourself this question and you will know.

lol, good job. Get at least a gas welder, seriously its worth every penny compared to a gasless flux.

hahaha whitey taking charge... time to buy a downwithwhitey.com drug carrying case

If i learned anything from me trying to learn about welders, I think the out amps on that is too high for items such as charge piping, but would work for dp's, mani's.

I could be wrong, i don't remember exactly.

But if you can afford a gas, go gas, that way you don't spend money for a gas one later.

I think boost might have that same welder.

Yep, I got that same welder. Welds like a dream.

Ok, not really. It bonds metal together. If you're looking for something that makes flawless welds, move along little doggy because this isn't the welder for you. Picture the worst weld you have ever seen........you got that in your mind? Ok, that will be the best weld you will ever throw down with this welder.

I would def. get something that you can use gas with. If you want something cheeper, they make wirefeeds that are flux core only but can later be converted to a MIG.
