Someone i work with has the '07 rabbit GTi, apart from the crap seat sliding mechanism, its really pretty fast. So far he's had it up to 146mph and the torque curve is flat as hell, so it pulls from idle to the redline.

cheaper and faster than a civic I'd much rather drive a vw than a civic, I've worked on them and the way they are built is very dfferent than a honda

GTi starts at around 22k......

the regular rabbit looks good, but I rather get a gti. I like the cars, but have heard stories. The older engines are crap, except for the vr6 pretty much.

you've never owned a VW then. and base rabbits msrp for 15k, but they're more like 18. the gti is 25ish i think and is more neer 30 once yo add in the expensive *** transmission and other bells and whistles. I'm driving an mk2 gti now, lady has an mk1 also, I've driven mk4's no 5's VW's might seem like they have a good fit and finish and everything, but they're just big peices of ----. I took a 1500 dollar hit on mine just so I didn't have to drive the ------- thing anymore. The vr6 breaks all of the time too, the only good engine VW made are their old non turbo diesels and their 8v's.

if it cost you 1500 to fix you probably didn't fix it yourself

In the UK, the rabbit starts at $40k and goes up to $50k for the fully specced up version.
