Default New here, herro, few questions.

Supppp..

New here, knew Beau and Leia way back in the day, middle school ages yo! Gateway hollar out if either of you read this! Ran into Leia about a year and a half ago at the track when I was there in my M3. This is Joshua if you read this Leia. =)

Anyways, I'm looking to sell my M Coupe here and start a new project. Not so much interested in tracking it now since I got the bike for that and I've always wanted to build a boosted hatch for some reason. I've been a DSM guy for years and just don't feel like going back to that. Two is enough.

So, here are a few of my questions. First off, I can't find a good source for generation information. I wanna go with a hatch, it seems 4th gen or 5th gen. Does anyone have any good sources on that? I know they're all over the net but the honda community is so huge that google will bring up 40000 sites and I don't know which is a reliable source. I'm sure you guys know.

Secondly, these blocks are so ------- cheap that I'm really just looking for not so much cost to power, but what handles the power the best. Seems the single cam non vtecs are popular. How about the H22s? I'm not looking to auto-x or track this car, so spooling a larger drag turbo would ------- suck ***** on a tiny *** 1.6L. I saw that Jeff stuck a H22 in Leia's car but when I search for information on google about that it seems theres mroe "don't do its" than acctuall information on how to do. And to boot no one says why not to do it. Also, how much goes into bullet proofing these things? I'm used to a headgasket and arp headstuds being' the good nuff'.

And my last question, uberdata seems to be the top choice around this forum for tuning. I can't find the website for this. How do you feel about this vs the other options? Noteably the AEM pnp units. Been some nice success in the DSM world with the AEM unit, is it overrated for a turbo hatch setup? Is it difficult obtaining maps for the uberdata unit?

I'm only a couple days into this so I don't have a ton of info yet, still looking for it all while reading the stickies here.

thanks. hopefully have some patience with me.

Single cams are very cheap but take a lot more to "bulletproof" than say a B or H. However, about 5 single cams can be had for the cost of one B. Uberdata is great. www.ecilmulti.org/uberdata is the old site, think you can get to it from there. As for hatches, hondas were good every year. 5th gens hold up better than 4th gens mostly because they're newer, but all things equal they're pretty much preference on your part. Good choice in honda, good luck.

it really depends on which obd you are going to run.

http://uberdata.pgmfi.org/forum/index.php if you're made of money you can pick up the aem. otherwise i'd suggest the uberdata route. i'm planning on getting it setup in the spring hopefully when the car comes back out.

do as much research as you can. have a goal in mind before you get started and always buy parts, etc, aiming towards your target. make a parts list, set a budget and plan on going over it.

Yeah, same old ---- different day on that budget plan. I'm not made of money, was just looking for any major down falls to the uderdata. Seems to be a good choice. And I don't plan on buying anything newer than 95, so it'd be odb1. I'm not willing to pay the rediculous ------- markup that these people are selling 10 year old hondas for.

Who do you suggest as a source for a motor? Really need to find generation information for what comes stock in hatches pertaining to year.
