yes sir. At first i thought it was the syncro's because it wouldnt go into third or fifth without grinding like crazy. But usually when the syncro's are out it would grind all the time. It only happens sometimes. I can shift without the clutch no problem. Turns out i was right on both cars. spring fell out

Either way, pop off your tranny and have a look.

Huh? I have the 3rd gear grind, but I honestly think it's from missing 3rd sooooo much. It only grinds in 3rd at higher (6k+) rpms and not normal shifting. You think it's a clutch spring? Why wouldn't it do it in the other gears as well?

How hard is it to take off the old tranny and bolt up a new one, is it something someone can do with out much experience with trannies?

Yes. I go by a guide Jon showed me to do my clutch swaps on like Honda-Acura.com or something. That was for an EJ8 though. Not much difference. Pull axles, unplug stuff, drain fluid, blah, blah, blah. Seriously it's not hard.

well before i start pullin stuff out, do u guys think it would do anygood to start with little things first like maybe changing the tranny fluid, and i think someone said something about some springs, maybe i can check those first. or should i just skip that stuff and go get a new tranny?

With the engine off and the car stopped does it shift into every gear (might be hard the first time into each gear, move it in and out of each gear to make sure it is smooth)?

If it does shift into every gear, try starting it in every gear (put in engine off, car stopped, start the engine clutch in, realease the clutch). Will it move in every gear?

If yes, clutch shot

If no, trans shot
