Re: need some good computer places
Thats a nice parts list you put together.
Id personally opt for a cheaper venus processor though, like the 3000+.
Ive OC'd a 3000+ and a 3500+, and I was only able to get about 100mhz extra outa the 3500+. That would save you about $50 for a measly 100mhz
My 3000+ venus OC's stable at 2600 running SETI 24/7. (stock cooler and 1.55v)

The venus aka opteron aka san diego core is a awesome cpu. I have actually built 10 different computers using the opteron 146 oc'd to 2.6 on stock voltage that is a rediculous bang for the buck with proper cooling 3.0ghz is possible on air. But I doubt he knows how to oc if he was even thinking of buying from that company.

leed i believe you are talking about the venice core wich is in the 3000 3200 3500. The venus only came in the amd opteron processors which are the same as the 3700 4000 and the the fx series san diege cores.

Bah it is still listed at 600. I don't feel so bad now.
Anyone see any major improvements with perfermance on the 64 bit architecture? I'm still rockin the Bartn core 3000+.

Yeah, Venice is what I meant. Single core.
$96 for a solid, cheap overclocker. Coupled w/ some decent OC'd ram, my box benches favorably againts some of the entry level dual cores that cost in the $350-450 range.

Re: need some good computer places
so dave u think anything over 3.5ghz is pretty much a waste of money? there is a 4.2 processor for 130 more to upgrade to but hell if its not even gonna run close to the theres no point, also only reason i choose this company for now, is they have awesome customer service, 3 year warranty on everything, my friend had his shitty gigabyte mother board take a ---- on him, they sent him a new asus mother board and even let him upgrade it again, just paid a few bucks for the upgrade thats it, and had to send his old one back. for 1200 bucks i can get around 4.0ghz,160gb hard drive,512mb geforce 7600gs video card,1024 ddr2 ram, y build my own and save a hundred bucks when this comes ready.
