Need a laptop for work. Someone find me one.
I need a laptop for work. 3D design and graphics rendering.
Basic Stuff I need:
1) 64 bit OS. I'd prefer XP Pro but I'll go with Vista Home Premium or Ultimate. I can bring the thing home so I plan on getting an external HD Tuner. Basic and business lack Media Center which I want.
2) 7200 rpm HD
3) Expandable to 4 GB. I'm thinking getting a laptop with 1 GB stick and adding another 2GB stick.
4) Dual Core Processor
5) 3.5+ Hour Battery Life. I'm going to need to take this thing to shows and ---- so an hour or two battery life would not be enough.
6) Dedicated graphics card. The new version of the program we use (Vectorworks) is going to be a lot more taxing on the graphics cards according to them so it needs to be pretty powerful.
Budget is $1800.

You lazy *** :P
I recommend Dell. I have one of their laptops and love it. Been about 2 years now and no complaints. Opt for the extended capacity battery (sticks out a bit further in the back but I never have to bring the power cord when I take my laptop somewhere)
Go to their website, click on "gaming laptops" and customize one.

Honestly, most of the work done in the office is done on Macs on an older version. The newer version is more of a resource hog in general. 32bit caps me at 3.xx GB and there is a good chance that 3GB won't be enough and I'll need 4+ to combat the slower processor, HD, and lower capacity graphics card.
I spent about an hour today building a PC until they told me they want me to get a laptop now for portability as I have to take it on the road and such. Now looking at laptops they seem to be lacking what I want and the specs available are ----. I already talked to sales reps from Tigerdirect and Newegg. Both were clueless. I'll try Dell, but I thought maybe one of you ******* would do all the work for me.
FYI: Anyone who suggests I get a Mac will get punched in the face. Seriously, the stupidest computers on the planet.

Either way, no motherboard is going to have enough slots, and no ram chip is going to have enough space, to reach that limit for a long, long time.
This is a retarded post. If you know what you want then go look through laptop manufacturers and pick one.

I hate Dell. I don't feel like getting a new computer full of AIDs and other STDs. I'd pay Dell $50 to not shove every piece of ---- program in the world on it. The end result will be me probably building through HP or Dell, but right now I would prefer to buy some prebuilt unit from a company that doesn't suck.
