White I was working at exclusive volvo garages, many of the 240 series have a known defect.

What happens is there is an internal fuel pump that provides a low amount of psi, it works in conjunction with the external main fuel pump.

If that fuel pump fails or if the stupid 3 inch rubber hose falls apart then the car at certain gas levels won't start. Used to happen to me while driving around, it would get so hot that the fuel would boil (or so it was explained to me) and car would die, not want to restart for an hour or two.

Look into your in-tank fuel pump, maybe replace your fuel filters.
