Name this part and it's function:
What is it called and what does it do? I went to change mine out for a different one and realized the noise I was hearing from it was the screw under the plastic cover that wasn't screwed in. After I screwed it in a valve on the inside moved and the rattling noise went away. I have no ------- clue what this thing is. Anybody know?

That's what I've heard, but I wasn't 100% sure. I wonder if that would cause me to run pig ---- rich?

Re:Name this part and it's function:
I haven't checked the fuel pressure. No gauges. I can't even run the car right now(unless I plug the oil feed line)so I don't know if it's fixed or not. I changed the following:
CTS
O2
FPR
Fuel acumulator pulsation dampner ejaculator spaculator
Injectors
and a million other things that shouldn't matter, but I wanted/had to change anyways.
I guess I'll see if I fixed it in a few days.

basically the theory is to prevent pulsations form the injectors opening and closing. the result in this some people say is some parts of your fiel system exploding. i could see this happening if you run a solid line fuel system, but i have also come to notice that it doesnt happen to cars with non solid fuel lines. my rx7 doesnt have solid fuel lines and the rubber lines absorbe the pulsations.
when things explode its likely a cause of water hammer.

also, i wouldnt advise driving it again untill you get a new one. if the screw falls out that could be a sign its bad. mine was completely fucked. my screw was out and the flapper got sealed shut and the bastard part popped spewing fuel on the exhaust manifold. so i chucked it and replaced it with a banjo bolt cus they dont do ---- and are far more cheaper. also, some aftermarket fuel pressure regulators have them ( pulsation dampeners ) built in.
many rx7's have died from this.
