I just let go my California king snake into the mountains a few days ago. Plenty of water and food out there, plus I always gave her live food. Hopefully the training will come into play in the wild. Figured it was better than just giving her to someone else since I no longer wanted her. 6 years in a cage.. Was like looking at someone who just got outta prison.

it was probably a poison they got into in the backyard. it has to be something from the instide out. antifreeze works that way on cats and dogs. you dont catch it till its too late. if you still have any of the bodys and the money take them to a vet and have a animal autopsy (its called a necropsy) to find out the exact reason. if it was a virus or deaese you dont want your living snake to die of the same thing.


thats the WORST thing you could have done for that snake letting it go. even if you have feed it live food all its life it still doesnt have the resources to make it in the wild. there are snake rescues for just that reason....but i understand you wanted it to have a better life. you tried.

Ahhh that sucks man. I was disappointed to see my puppy shitting out 8" long worms, but at least that's not really a big deal. Sucks man, I have no idea what they could have done.

Google says bloating is usually the result of a parasite peircing through it's organs and causing internal bleeding. Says it doesn't happen overnight but reptiles aren't great at showing symptoms until it's too late. It also could be a bacterial or viral infection that could have easily been passed to your other snakes.

I guess you already threw their remains out but if you have any left, should take it to a vet and see what it was, so you know what to clean before you get another one, if you do.

the reason we had them in the same tank was becuase if winter downsizing. its much easier to keep them together and all but the burmese were together for years before this. i told my dad it wasnt smart to put the burmese with the others, especially after the redtail that we got with the burmese died for no reason. but that was month ago and it seemed fine. he didnt listen. we barely even move the lawn cuz in the winter the lawn dies and in the summer it dies so no chemicals there. and if it was that, it would have happened long before this becuase this is a daily thing aking them out and letting them roam around. anytime its warm and sunny they are outside for a while. im going to a local herp exprt to talk to him today. i dont have the bodies but he hopefully will know anyways. as for the respiratory infections and mouth rot and mites, i have been in this for a while so i have seen all of that and treated it many times on rescue snakes, but this just doesnt make sense.

---- off dick beater. now to top off the week, im in the er right now. i was filling a fish tank to check for leaks and it broke and like a dumbass i tried to catch it before it broke. damn near chopped off the two middle fingers on my left hand. i havent gotten the xrays or stitches yet so ill try to snap some pics. they think im going into shock. my hand is numb, and cold and im freezing and shaking. and sweating and breathing real fast. ---- this week. ---- this month, ---- redboy. i call admins for a ban.
